Anna Loewen of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Feb. 21. She was born May 24, 1908, the eldest child of David and Katharina Klassen of Kondratyevka, southern Russia. She was raised in a Christian home. She was converted at 14 and was later baptized. Her father died in 1922, leaving her mother with 7 children. In 1929 they immigrated to Paraguay. She married Peter Loewen Dec. 17, 1932. Through sacrifices, perseverance and prayer, they struggled to survive. 5 sons and 4 daughters were born, but 3 daughters died at birth. They taught their children to pray and read the Bible. They were church members and participated in church ministries. After moves to Uruguay, Caaguazu and Asuncion, they immigrated to Kitchener, Ont. in 1967, where both worked. After 3 years, they moved to Vancouver. They later retired to Clearbrook, where they attended King Road MB Church. In her last years her health deteriorated, but she bore her suffering without complaint and with patience and gratitude for the help she received. Her steadfast faith gave her assurance. She is mourned by her husband; sons Henry of Clearbrook, Rudolf of Curitiba, Brazil, Hans of Clearbrook, Gerd of Clearbrook and Theodor of Asuncion, Paraguay; daughter Hildegard Neufeld of Curitiba; 31 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
