. . .

— Death last Sunday evening brought to an end the lingering illness of Jacob D. Gaeddert at the Bethel Hospital, where he was a pateint for several weeks. Mr. Gaeddert and family had lived in Newton since he retired from his farm at Inman several years ago. As a son of the Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert, one of the first ministers of the Hoffnungsau church at Inman, he experienced the hardships of pioneer life there and later also established his own home in that community. Funeral services will be held at Hoffnungsau today, following a short service at the home here in Newton. The services will be conducted by Rev. A. J. Dyck of Inman and Rev. J. H. Epp of Hillsboro. Besides his wife, Mrs. Gaeddert is survived by the following children: Mrs. G. K Froese, newton; Mrs. H. T. Unruh, Bluffton, Ohio; Dietrich R., Mrs. J. Y. Schmidt, Jacob C., Henry, Albert, and Walter.
