Margaret Grother was born March 16, 1867, in Hamburg, Germany, and died at Reedley, California, Dec. 8, 1936. She came to the United States when she was seventeen years of age. Her first home here was at Pekin, Illinois. In 1891 she was married to Harry Ertmoed. In 1899 the family moved to Alva, Oklahoma, where they joined a Mennonite church. From 1905 to 1911 the family resided in Canada. After that they moved to Reedley, California, where they have made their home ever since.

Of the seven children, who came to bless the home, two were taken from this life in childhood. Five, one son and four daughters, remain, with the father, as survivors of the mother, whose long life has made a deep impression on them.

Mrs. Ertmoed has been ill for about two and one half years before she was called away. She bore her trials with becoming patience and was a source of inspiration in her attitude and conduct.

Funeral services were held in the Mennonite church on Dec. 11 at which Rev. H. J. Krehbiel spoke, basing his remarks on I Thess. 4:13-14, and Rev. J. H. Langenwalter used for his text Matt. 3:28-30.
