LARGE FUNERAL FOR JEROME EITZEN, FATALLY INJURED IN ELEVATOR ACCIDENT, HELD AT EBENFELD CHURCH, MAY 3

Hillsboro, Kansas. — Manifesting their deep sympathy with the bereaved parents and family, a large concourse of relatives and friends attended the funeral services for Jerome Eitzen, 21, at the Ebenfeld Mennonite church Sunday afternoon, May 3.

The young man, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Eitzen of Marion, and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Eitzen of Hillsboro, was crushed to death in an elevator accident at the Seymour Packing Company plant in Marion late Wednesday, April 29. He was trapped in some manner between the basement and the first floor in the elevator.

There were no witnesses to the accident, however, it is thought that Jerome, who had worked in the egg room in the basement, fell partially into the elevator car which crushed him as it reached the section dividing the basement and the first floor.

Workmen heard his cries, but arrived too late to be of any assistance.
