MISS KATIE DYCK

Miss Katie Dyck, daughter of Abraham and the late Mrs. Anna (nee Claassen) Dyck, was born September 16, 1897, near Beatrice, Nebraska.

She came to California with her parents in May 1900, living for several years in the Adelaide community northwest of Paso Robles. Since 1908 she had made her home on the Dyck ranch in Willow Creek, where she attended public school at the Summit school.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith in Christ and received into the fellowship of the present Second Mennonite church of Paso Robles, on May 31, 1914 by Rev. F. F. Jantzen.

Throughout her life she has experienced considerable sickness but through God’s grace she seemed to make a fair recovery. She was privileged to care for her mother in her rather prolonged weakness until her death in August 1949. In January 1950 she submitted to a major operation which proved to be too much for her weakened condition and she never fully recovered from the effects of it. She passed away in the afternoon of March 19, 1951 at the age of 53 years, six month and three days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her aged father, Abraham Dyck: five sisters, Marie (Mrs. Gus Wiebe), Anna (Mrs. John Hamm), Helen (Mrs. John P. Dueck), Elsie (Mrs. Archie McKennon), and Agnetha (Mrs. Alfred Bergman), all of Paso Robles; four brothers, Henry J. of Pas Robles, Herman of Wheaton, Ill., John and Will of Paso Robles; also a large number of nephew and nieces. Her mother and or sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Second Mennonite church at Willow Creek, near Paso Robles, Calif. on March 22 and interment in the church cemetery in the family plot were conducted by her pastor, W. Harley King.
