Heart Attack Fatal To Noted Senate Leader

One of the most noted and influential leaders in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Robert S. Kerr, 66, succumbed to a heart attack Jan. 1, while sitting on the side of his bed in Doctors Hospital at Washington, D. C.

Funeral services were held Jan. 4 in the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, where Kerr was a member and had once taught Sunday School. Dr. Herschel H. Hobbs, pastor of the church, and Dr. John W. Raley, chancellor of Oklahoma Baptist University, conducted the services.

President Kennedy made a special trip from Palm Beach, Fla. to attend.

Kerr, a wealthy oil man, left an estate estimated at more than 10 million.
