Retired businessman Dies at Fresno, Calif.

Hillsboro, Kan. — Funeral services for Gerhard A. Flaming, 87, well-known retired banker and business man, were held Feb. 7 at the Gnadenau M. B. Church here. He died Feb. 2 at Fresno, Calif. where he had resided since his marriage to Mrs. Gertrude Penner in 1961.

A native of the Florence, Kan. community, Mr. Flaming attended Hillsboro schools and then continued his education at McPherson and Bethel colleges. After teaching school he managed grain elevators at Lehigh and Inman, Kan. and then went into the banking business, managing banks at Corn, Okla. and Hesston, Kan. For ten years before his retirement he was manager of the Farmers Equity Union of Hillsboro.

Mr. Flaming's first wife, the former Elizabeth Wiebe, died in 1955. Surviving are his second wife, three sons, six sisters, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
