• Herman T. Janz, Detroit, Michigan, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 2, according to word received by relatives. He reached the age of 71. Mr. Janz lived in Newton for about six months in 1923 and from here moved to Newport, Wash., where he pioneered in clearing land. In 1927 he moved with his son Peter to Detroit, where he worked for the Packard Motor Co. until his retirement. His first wife was a sister to Mrs. G. H. Willms and A. P. Dick of Newton. He is survived by his second wife and son Peter, now living in Germany where he is employed by the U. S. State Department, one adopted daughter, Mrs. Gustav Harder Jr., Whitewater, and three other daughters.
