MRS. FRANK P. BERGEN
Mrs. Maggie Bergen, daughter of Rev. Isaac and Mary Friesen, was born March 23, 1957, at the age of 79 years and one day.
She spent her childhood days and received her elementary education near Hillsboro, Kansas. In 1893 she moved with her parents to Abilene, Texas. There at the age of 15 she accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour. She was baptized by Rev. John Harder and received into the K.M.B. church. In this faith she remained true to the end.
In 1894 she moved with her parents on their homestead southwest of Weatherford, Okla.
On Dec. 13, 1896, she was united in holy matrimony with Frank P. Bergen by Rev. Henry Wiebe in the home of her parents. They settled on a homestead southwest of Weatherford, Okla. Here they shared the pioneer days. The Lord blessed this union with three sons and three daughters. She was always a kind, loving, true and praying companion and mother. Her children and their salvation were the deep concern of her daily prayers. By her sacrificial life she left an example in prayer and personal testimony.
In October of 1948 she and her husband retired from farming and moved to 511 North 8th St., Weatherford. Here they enjoyed their home and the fellowship of children, relatives and friends.
She enjoyed moderately good health most all of her life until about three months ago when her health began to fail. She took seriously ill Monday, March 18. She was rushed to the hospital where everything humanly possible was done for her. She entered into her eternal home to be with the Lord on March 23, at 6:40 p.m.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Frank P. Bergen of Weatherford; her children, Isaac Bergen of Culver, Ore., Gertrude, Mrs. George Kliewer, John Bergen and Ted Bergen of Weatherford, Marie, Mrs. Menno Cornelson of Cordell, Okla. and Miss Martha Bergen of Weatherford; two sons-in-law and three daughters-in-law; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, P. E. Friesen of Corn, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Popp of Hillsboro, Kans.
Though we shall miss our praying mother, we are sustained by the ever-present hope of a future reunion in Heaven. — The Bereaved Family.
