JOHN FRANK BRAUN

John Frank Braun was born on April 21, 1890 to Frank and Katharina Braun, in Russia. He passed away on April 2 in Calgary. While still in Russia he married Susana Geddert, with whom he shared 54 years. He accepted Christ as his Saviour in his adult life, and later joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in Gem, Alberta.

The Brauns moved to Canada in 1927, farming at Hussar and Gem, Alberta. In 1958 he retired and moved to Calgary, his home until his passing. The final three years were spent at the Bethany Care centre. He was predeceased by his wife in 1972, and by four children in infancy.

A funeral service was held on April 5 in the Calgary Highland Mennonite Brethren Church. Pastor Willms officiated, assisted by Rev. Jake Doerksen of Gem.

He is mourned by two daughters, (Mrs.) Katherine Klassen and Anne of Calgary; three sons and their wives, John of Medicine Hat, Alta., and Frank and Dirk of Gem; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends.
