(MRS.) HELEN JANZEN

(Mrs.) Helena Janzen was born to George and Helen Dyck at Plum Coulee, Manitoba, on September 11, 1923. Here she grew up and attended school. As a young girl she showed interest in God's Word, and earned a stay at the Canadian Sunday School Mission Bible Camp by memorizing the required Bible verses . In 1945 she married David Janzen, and the couple moved to Winnipeg. Two sons were born to them, Gerald and Douglas. She lived and worked to keep her family together and to provide them with opportunity to learn God's Word. As a family they spent much time in joint activities, and particularly enjoyed camping trips together. Helen was a quiet person, but loved fellowship with others. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Women 's Mission Circle at the Portage Ave. Mennonite Brethren Church (Winnipeg) and was a faithful and active member. In 1969 she became a member of the church, and her example and service there will long be remembered. In July, 1975 symptoms of illness apeared. Her condition deteriorated, and surgery and radiation treatments proved ineffective. She accepted her illness and bore it patiently and without complaining. The Lord called her home on January 2. She is mourned and sadly missed by her family and many friends.
