text of obituary:

MRS. ANNA PENNER

(Mrs.) Anna Penner was born December 26, 1891 to Jacob and Helma Froese in Schoenenberg, Russia, the second of seven children, and went to be with the Lord on September 13. She emigrated with her family to Canada in 1907.

As a teenager she met the Lord personally and committed her life to him. She was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church while still is Russia. On November 12, 1911 she married Isaac Penner. The couple were blessed with eight children, and resided in various places in Saskatchewan, including Elim, Reed Valley and Greenfarm, until their retirement to Herbert in 1946.

She and her husband made many contributions to their community and church. Mrs. Penner was a woman of prayer, bringing her concern for children and grandchildren before the Lord daily. Her desire was to see all her family and friends serve the Lord.

After living for many years in her own home in Herbert, where she enjoyed gardening, she moved into the Senior Citizens Home in 1970. She entered the Herbert Nursing Home two years later after suffering a stroke, and passed away quietly on September 13 at the age of 83 years. The funeral was held in the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church.

Mrs. Penner was predeceased by her husband in 1949, and by four children in infancy. She leaves to mourn, but not without hope, four daughters, Mrs. Jacob E. (Linda) Schultz, Mrs. Dave (Hilda) Martens, Mrs. Jacob (Ruth) Voth, and Mrs. William (Alma) Braun, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother.
