(MRS.) KATHARINA POETKER

Katharina Poetker was born in Rueckenau, Molotschna, Russia in 1894, the daughter of minister and teacher Abraham Isaac. In 1926 she dedicated her life to God and was baptized upon her confession of faith and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church in Winnipeg. Most of her years in Canada she lived in Steinbach, Manitoba, where she was predeceased by her husband Peter Heinrich Poetker, her son Rudy, and a grandson Allan. In 1974 she moved to Donwood Manor in Winnipeg where she spent many happy moments making new friends and renewing old acquaintances. She passed away April 15. She leaves to mourn her children, Herta and John Toews of Steinbach, John and Betty of Toronto, George and Corinne of Winnipeg, Danny of Toronto, Irvin and Jamie of Vancouver, Leonard and Rosemarie of Winnipeg; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
