HENRY BARGEN,69, WAS ST CROIX COUNTY EDUCATOR

(From Hudson Star-Observer) Henry E. Bargen, 69, of 1205 3rd Street, died unexpectedly June 8 at the St. Croix Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bargen was born March 20, 1901, in Mountain Lake, MN, the son of Jacob and Anna Balzer Bargen. Mr. Bargen was a graduate of Carlton College in Northfield, MN. He came to Hudson in 1925 and was a science teacher 18 years in Hudson High School.

He married Reba Offerdahl in Rochester, MN June 8, 1928. He was St. Croix County Superindendent of schools from 1952 until the office was abolished in 1961.

Besides his wife, Reba, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. L.D.Lawson (Barbara) of San Antonio, TX and Mrs. Arvid Stephens (Nancy) of Amery, and 3 grandsons. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. J. Arnold Bargen, of Sun City, CA and one sister, Mrs. George Spence (Anna) of Rockford, IL.

He was a member of the Masons and Elks. A Masonic service was held at the Swanson Funeral Home Wednesday, June 10, at 8 p.m. Funeral services were Thursday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gerben Van Putten officiating. Mrs. Harold Walbrandt played the organ music. Interment was at Baldwin Cemetery at Baldwin. Pallbearers were Clarence Moen, Harold Weatherhead, Lyle Wilcox, Loren Larson, Lawrence (Corky) Hope and J. Gifford Nelson.
