DAVID PETER WIENS

1939. to Peter and Anna Wiens, nee Lepp. H accepted Christ as his personal Saviour a age ten and was baptized at 16. He joine the East Aldergrove (B.C.) Mennonite Breth ren Church. After high school at the Mennonite Educa tional Institute, he attended the Mennonit Brethren Bible Institute in Clearbrook for year, and then went on to the University o British Columbia. He acquired his BA and B Ed, and began teaching in Prince Rupert B.C. He married Esther Mary Voth on Augus 22, 1959. They lived in the Prince Ruper area for eight years. After another year a UBC Dave returned to a principalship i that area for three more years. The last thre years of his life were spent in Armstrong, B.C where he was principal of the elementar school.

He was always very active in churc activities, ineluding serving as deacon, teach ing, directing the choir and doing conside able lay preaching. He sang in a quartet, a well as in duets with his wife. He was also a active Gideon. During the later years of his life he becam more and more convinced of the futility o acquiring more of this world's goods, an more aware of the spiritual needs of peop around him. This led him and his wife to appl to Mennonite Brethren Missions and Service They were appointed as candidates in Feb ruary, 1974. They sold their house and furniture and a the time of his death they were ready t leave for Fresno, California for a year o studies at the MB Biblical Seminary, befo proceeding into language study and mission ary work in Latin America. Dave went to be with the Lord, togethe with his cousin John Wiens, instantl through a traffic accident in Prince Georg B.C., in which his brother Jack was serious injured. The accident occurred on August 1 He leaves to mourn his wife, Esther; on daughter, Debbie, 10; three sons, Timmy, 1 Stanley, 9 and Leslie, 5; his parents; M and Mrs. P. N. Wiens of Clearbrook; thre brothers: Jake of Toronto, John of Langle B.C. and Jack of Prince George, B .C.; tw sisters: Mrs. Netti/;. Eytzen of Minneso and Mrs. Mary Thiessen of Abbotsford; an many other relatives and friends.
