WILHELM SCHMIDT

Wilhelm Schmidt was born on September 15 , 1906 to Henry and Wilhelmine (nee Kliewer) Schmidt in Poland. He was married to Anna Prochnau in 1932. They came to Canada and settled in Coaldale, Alta., in 1949. At the age of 44 he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized and accepted into the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church. Wilhelm Schmidt passed away on August 18 in the Coaldale Community Hospital. The funeral was observed from the Coaldale Church on August 23 with Rev. Rudy Heidebrecht ministering. He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughter Emma Koerner of Calgary and foster-daughter Helen Matis; three grandchildren; three sisters, Lydia Wutzke and Maria Matthies of Calgary and Martha Selm of Germany; and three broth ers , Henry of Argentina and Leonard and Peter of Clearbrook, B.C .
