C. O. “CURT” HEIDEBRECHT

He was a member of the Hoffnungsau Church where he remained an active and faithful member. He served as the church choir director, Men's Chorus director, Sunday school teacher and teacher of mid-week Bible classes. He found great joy and comfort in studying and teaching God's Word.

He was baptized upon confession of faith and became a member of Hoffnungsaw Church on May 19, 1918, by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff. He loved his church and remained a faithful member, attending church services whenever it was possible.

Curt taught in the McPherson and Harvey County schools for nine years, operated the People's Store in Inman for 17 years and did secretarial and field work for the Milking Shorthorn Society of Kansas for ten years. Through this work he made many contacts and won a wide circle of friends. He sacrificed many hours of work which he hoped would make the world a better place in which to live.

He was united in marriage to Liz Friesen on May 12, 1929, in the Hoffnungsdau church, Rev. A. J. Dyck performing the ceremony. They were granted over 29 years of enjoyable married life together.

He was a kind, loving, and appreciative husband, brother, and uncle, and his passing has left a wide gap in the family circle. He prayed often for strength to endure his afflictions, especially in the last few years of his life.

Curt was relieved of all his suffering when the angel came to take his soul to its eternal reward on Thursday, August 6, 1958, at 8:30 a. m. He leaves to mourn his early departure his wife, Liz; one sister, Mrs. H. A. Woelk, Goessel; four brothers, J. J. and Paul of McPherson, Gus of Inman, J. O. of Sedgwick. Also surviving him are nieces and nephews and many friends. His mother, father, two brothers, Dick M. and Jake A., preceded him in death.

The memorial services conducted by Rev. Albert M. Gaeddert, Rev. A. J. Dyck, and Rev. C. H. Voth on Monday morning, August 11, 1958, at ten o'clock from the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. Music was provided by the mixed octet and Omer Rupp, soloist, with Dwain Kim at the organ.
