MARY THIESSEN

Mrs. Mary Thiessen was born on October 17, 1907 to Henry and Elizabeth Wall in Orloff, Russia. She emigrated to Canada in 1926 with her mother, sisters and four brothers. Her father had been killed in the Revolution in 1919.

She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour as a teenager and was baptized and received into the fellowship of the church.

On December 9, 1932 she was married to Dietrich Thiessen in Gilray, Sask. Their union was blessed with six children, four daughters and two sons. She was predeceased by one infant daughter, Mary Ann, and one son, Gerald, who passed away July 14, 1962.

Her health began to deteriorate several years ago and she was hospitalized in February. She passed away July 10. She is survived by her loving husband Dietrich; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Edith) Wall, Calgary, Mrs. Arthur (Elvera) Siemens, Mossbank, Sask. and Mrs. John (Evelyn) Wiens, Saskatoon; one son, Walter, Vauxhall, Alta.; six grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters.

She was a selfless woman who lived for others, being keenly interested in the work of God's kingdom and participating whenever possible. She was a devoted mother who was concerned about the spiritual welfare of her family.

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Thiessen was held in the Vauxhall (Alta.) Mennonite Brethren Church on July 14, with officiating minister Rev. H. Unruh and the son-in-law of the deceased, Arthur Siemens, ministering.
