AGNES ALLERT
Agnes Allert was born January 30, 1926, at Friedensruh. South Russia. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church at La Glace, Alta. at age 15.
In 1944 the family moved to B.C., taking up residence in Yarrow. She graduated from . the Sharon Mennonite Collegiate in Yarrow , and went on to the Vancouver Normal School to qualify as a teacher. After teaching for a number of years she spent two years at the Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg. She subsequently attended summer session at the University of British Columbia, and obtained a Bachelor of Education degree in elementary education. She : continued her teaching profession until her ' early departure.
Agnes always showed a deep sincere concern for children, and worked with zeal and dedication in her calling as a teacher. This concern and dedication was even more evident in her church work. Throughout most of her adult life she was involved in teaching Sunday school, and more recently was instrumental in f'~t.ablishing a Pioneer Girls program in the Culloden Mennonite Brethren Church. She passed away June 16.
Agnes was predeceased by her father in 1957. She leaves to mourn her mother, Mrs. C. (Aganetha) Allert; three brothers: Neil of Abbotsford. Helmut of Kamloops , and John of 100 Mile ' House, B.C.; three sisters. Katherine, Hilda, Lillian, all of Vancouver; three nieces, five nephews; and many friends and relatives.
The funeral was held June 20 in the Culloden Mennonite Brethren Church, Vancouver, with Rev. D. B. Wiens officiating.
