PETER J. GOERTZ
Peter J. Goertz passed away on Jan. 6, 1958, at the age of 74 years after a lengthy illness. He was born March 20, 1883, at Freeman, S. D. His parents were Peter Goertz and Maria Unruh Goertz.
He was baptized in the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. Inman, Kan. on June 16, 1901, by Rev. Peter Balzer.
His school days were spent in the Inman community. Later he came to the Hillsboro community where he started his life-long vocation in the implement business. Here he was married to Bena Schroeder on Nov. 6, 1911. To this union were born three children, one daughter and two sons.
He was deeply devoted to his wife and children, and his love and care will always be remembered. His living was based on a prayerful life.
In his chosen profession he was known over a wide area for his experience and ability in the farm implement business. He always prided himself in doing a job well and in helping as much as he could. He was always willing to give where needed.
Survivors include his wife, Bena; one daughter, Mrs. Aldean Baldwin of Mulvane, Kan.; two sons, Dave J. Goertz of Dodge City, Kan. and Harvey E. Goertz of Hiawatha, Kan.; four grandchildren; seven brothers, John P. Goertz of Moundridge, Kan., Henry P. Goertz of Durham, Kan., Jacob W. Goertz of Newton, Kan., Cornelius P. Goertz of Roscoe, Neb., Frank J. Goertz of Carnduff, Sask., and Herman J. Goertz of Eldergrove, B. C.; and four sisters, Mrs. Marie Bergman of Newton, Kan., Mrs. Frieda Kehler of Winnipeg, Man., Mrs. Helen Schmidt of Waldheim, Sask., and Mrs. Martha Ewert of Rosthern, Sask.
