JOHN SUKKAU

John Sukkau was born in Hampton, Nebraska, January 3, 1902. The following year he came with his parents to Saskatchewan, Canada, moving near Dalmeny in 1912. He found Christ in 1916, and was baptized and received into the Dalmeny Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church.

He married Mary Friesen on March 30, 1930. One son was born to this union.

Mr. Sukkau's main occupation was barbering. Other duties which he had in Hepburn included being the town Justice of the Peace, mayor for many years, the town drayman, custom grinding and sawing firewood for country folk. He also worked 31 years for the Saskatchewan Power Corp. as a contract man, and in the last years of his life as a janitor in the Hepburn school.

He passed away December 14 at the age of 71. Funeral services were held December 19 in the Hepburn Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. John Froese and H. M. Willems officiating.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Mary; one son Walter and wife Virginia of Hepburn; three granddaughters; two brothers; three sisters and many friends and relatives.
