— Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Smith, 54, of Kansas City, Kans. were held Saturday afternoon at the Gnadenberg church east of Newton, Rev. Ted Roth officiating. Mrs. Smith, wife of J. P. Smith, passed away at Kansas City, where she was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, two brothers, Gus Ewert of Whitewater and Henry Ewert of California; one sister, Mrs. L. O. Pierson of Newton; and two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Unruh of near Newton and Mrs. Anna Harms of Whitewater.
