MRS. AGANETHA TOEWS

Mrs. Aganetha Toews was born in Spat, in the Crimea, Russia on July 18, 1883 to Cornelius and Maria (Ens) Rempel. The family then moved to Samara. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour, and was baptized in May, 1902 and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On January 15, 1903 Johann and Aganetha were married. Four of their children died. They left Russia, moved to Drake, Sask. in 1926, to Yarrow, B.C. in 1936, and in 1963 to the Tabor Home, Clearbrook, B.C. They were able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in the Yarrow MB Church on January 14, 1973 with many relatives and friends.

Her motto was, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Phil.1:21). Funeral services were held in the Yarrow MB Church with Rev. J. F. Klassen and Rev. H. G. Thielman officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Johann Toews; sons John of Abbotsford and Jake of Monte Lake, B.C. with their wives and families; daughters Mrs. Abe (Helen) Friesen of Drake, Sask. and Mrs. Pete (Agnes) Nightingale of Yarrow with their husbands and families; 25 grandchildren, 62 great· grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
