Manitoba Minister Dies Of Heart Attack

REV. J. J. SIEMENS OF WINKLER MIGRATED FROM RUSSIA IN 1924

Winkler, Man. — Rev. Jacob J. Siemens of Winkler died at his home here Saturday, March 2 of a heart attack.

Born at Adelsheim, Russia on Sept. 17, 1882, he was ordained as a minister in 1922 and came to Canada in 1924, taking up residence in Winkler. During this time he was engaged in farming and served as a minster of the Bergthaler church.

Rev. Siemens took an active part in many community affairs including the organization of Bethesda Home and locally he made a contribution to scientific poultry production.

He is survived by his wife Maria (the former Mrs. Peters nee Siemens); three daughters Eva, Mrs. N. Braum of Starbuck, Nettie of Winnipeg, Anne, Mrs. Ike Harder of Carman; one son, John, Winkler; two step-sons, Victor Peters and Dr. J. A. Peters, Winnipeg.

Funeral services were conducted in the Winkler Bergthaler church March 6, Rev. D. Schulz and Rev. J. M. Pauls officiating.
