— A memorial service was conducted at the First Mennonite Church on Saturday afternoon for Henry B. Wiebe, former resident of Newton who died Jan. 23 at Aberdeen, Idaho. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the First Mennonite Church of Aberdeen. Survivors include four sons, Walter, Carl and Henry Jr. of Aberdeen and Rev. Willard Wiebe of Mt. Lake, Minn.; three daughters, Esther Wiebe, R.N., en route home from the mission field in India, Mrs. Florence Nickel of Salem, Ore., and Elsie Wiebe of Omaha, Neb.; and one sister, Mrs. Willie Harder of Aberdeen.

HENRY B. WIEBE

Henry B. Wiebe, son of Bernhard and Katherine Graeves Wiebe, was born at Bokhara, Russia, on May 4,1883. He passed away Jan. 23, 1957, at the age of 78 years.

In the fall of 1884 he came with his parents to America and settled on a farm near Brainerd, Kansas. Here he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Wiebe family moved to Hinton, Okla. where they farmed for a number of years.

At the age of 23 he went to Newton, Kansas to work as an engineer in a mill. On Feb. 23, 1908, he was united in marriage to Katie Enz, who shared with him life's joys and sorrows for 48 years and 11 months. To this union were born five sons and four daughters of whom one son and one daughter preceded him in death.

In 1918 he moved his family to Brainerd, Kansas where he engaged in the grocery business until 1927, when he started farming.

In 1930 he brought the family to Idaho where he farmed for 14 years and was in the real estate business for eight years. He retired in 1954 because of ill health.

Surviving are his companion; four sons, Walter, Karl and Henry of Aberdeen and Willard, Mountain Lake, Minn.; three daughters, Esther, Jagdeeshpur, India, Florence (Mrs. Titus Nickel) of Yarina Cocha, Peru, Elsie of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Willie Harder, Sterling, Idaho; and 16 grandchildren.

He was a wonderful husband and father, always concerned about the welfare of others. We mourn his departure, but are assured that he is in Glory.
