ANNA ESPENBERG

Anna Espenberg was born in 1898 in Herzenberg, Ukraine, S. Russia, to Heinrich and Elizabeth Sawatzky. In 1918 she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized and accepted into the Millerevo MB Church. She was married to Bernard Espenberg in 1922 and they lived n Moscow and later in Estonia.

The family moved to Germany at the beginning of World War II and during this time their oldest son, Heinz, was reported missing at the Russian front. With the help of Benno Schellenberg, Main Centre, Sask., they immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in Vancouver, BC. In 1965 they moved to Clearbrook, and here enjoyed the visits of their children and grandchildren.

After the death of her husband, Anna continued to live in Clearbrook until her recent illness. She passed away into the presence of her Lord on July 18 in the Vancouver General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhard, one son, Heinz, and one daughter-in-law, Molly Espenberg. She leaves to mourn her departure 3 sons, 2 daughters, their respective families, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and many relatives and friends.
