Abe I. Thiessen was born in Felsenbach, Russia, in 1895. He was married to Lena Penner in 1919, and was converted in 1924. They came to Canada in 1927, arriving in Winkler. After living in Saskatchewan, they moved subsequently to Brandon, Man., and to Clearbrook in 1966. He died on May 14, 1973 in the MSA hospital.

His life was often difficult but he was always firm in his faith and an example to those around him. The funeral service was held in the Clearbrook MB Church with Rev. Lenzmann and Rev. J. H. Quiring officiating.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, 3 sons, 4 daughters, 23 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, one sister, one brother, relatives and friends.
