MAIRA DOERKSEN

Maria Doerksen (nee Loewen) was born in 1891 in Kansas. In 1903 she and her parents moved to Bessie, Oklahoma. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in Christ in 1910 at the Herold Mennonite Church, Bessie, Okla. Together with her parents they decided to move to Morden, Man. in 1918.

She was married to Abraham A. Doerksen in 1921, and their union was blessed with five children. It was their joy to know that the whole family accepted the Lord Jesus as their perosnal Saviour. They recognized the value of Bible training and sacrificed to enable the children to attend Bible School.

Due to ill health the family left the farm in 1964 and retired to Winkler, Man. In 1965 Mr. Doerksen passed away. In 1968 Maria Doerksen moved to Richmond, B.C. Here she experienced times of joy as well as sorrow. But through it all, her faith in Christ remained steadfast. God called her home on April 29th at the age of 81 years.

Left to mourn are: Tina (Mrs. Steve Rajbar). Morden; John, Helena (Mrs. Corney Kroeker), both of Richmond; Mary (Mrs. Jake Goertzen), Cloverdale; Louise, Winnipeg; 18 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the Morden M.B. church and friends of their mother who participated so graciously in their recent bereavement. This note of sincere appreciation is also extended to the friends of the family in Richmond, B.C.
