PETER P. WIEBE

Peter Wiebe was born in Neudorf, South Russia, in 1881, the fifth of sixteen children of Peter and Anna Wiebe. In his parental home he learned to know about Jesus early in life, and was baptized upon his confession of faith and received into the Mennonite Church.

In 1901 he married Maria Neufeld. After thirteen years of marriage she died and left him with four children, In 1915 he found in Helene Tiehsen a wife and mother for his children. The Lord gave them another daughter. After severe illness his second wife died in 1928.

In 1929 he married widow Margaret Neufeld who had four children. For forty four years they shared joys and sorrows. They trusted God through the difficult time of WWII, when for six years they wandered through Europe. In 1949 they came to Canada and settled in Virgil, Ontario.

Because of old age they moved into Tabor Manor, St. Catharines in 1969, where they w ere very happy. Despite his advanced age he enjoyed being occupied at the work bench, and his pleasant manner was a delight to all who knew him. He died on February 22nd at the age of 91,

Funeral services were held on Feb. 24 in the Virgil Mennonite Brethren Church, Rev. J. G. Baerg and Rev, Georgie Wichert officiated,

He leaves to mourn his wife, Margaret; a son, seven daughters, (three of them in Russia), 31 grandchildren, and 82 great grandchildren.
