GEORGE MATTHIES

George M attthi es w as born Sept. 17, 1900 in Olgenau, S. Rus sia to Gerhard and Marg areta Ma-tthi es (n ee M artens). In 1925 he came to Canada settling first in Manitou, M an. Three years later he came to Coa ldale, and in 1942 purchased his own farm , where he lived ·until his passing. It w as here that he accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour in 1944 and upon confession of fai,th was baptized and joined the M ..B. Church . On Feb. 11 , 1945 he marri ed Tina Goerzen. This union wa s .blessed with five children of wh om one daugh,ter predeceased him in infancy. He found much joy in his family and church 'life. During his illness he wa s still a rea l encouragement and witn ess to his family and friends. The Lord has taken him home. Yet though we sorrow, w e have a living hope to see our loved one agai n in Glory. He lea ves to mourn his w ife, two sons, two daughters, two grandchildren, as weH as relatives and fri end s. Fun era l services were held in the Coaldale MBChurch with Rev. D.J . Pankratz officiating.
