ABRAHAM KORNELIUS HIEBERT

Abraham K. Hiebert of Gem, Alberta, was born in Neukirch, southern Russia on December 10, 1889, to Kornelius and Katharina (nee Dalke) Hiebert. In 1923 he was united in holy matrimony with Anne Peters. In 1925 he emigrated to Canada with his family. He arrived first in Rosthern, Sask., spent several years there and in 1928 came to Gem. Here he farmed until his retirement in 1960, continuing to live on the farm site after retirement.

God gave Mr. Hiebert many blessings materially, but much more spiritually, Through the many sorrows he experienced in the loss of his wife, two sons and one daughter, he found a stronghold and deep comfort in the Master of his life. John 14:1-3 were a comfort to him in his last days, when he was completely bed-ridden. He passed away on June 8, 1972 in the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Hiebert was predeceased by his wife, Anna, in 1946; Marlin, age 16 years, in 1940; Henry at two weeks, in 1939; and Elizabeth, at 26 years, in 1961. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Abram (Anne) Peters, Chilliwack, B.C., Mrs. George (Helen) Enns, Chilliwaok, B.C, Mrs. Melvin (Freda) Raugrest, Craigmyle, Alta., and Mrs. Herman (Kay) Kreksch, Morningside, Alta.; and four sons: Abraham and Bernard of Gem, David of Lethbridge and Cornelius of Millet, Alta.; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters in Russia.
