ABRAHAM KORNELIUS HIEBERT

Abraham K . Hiebert 'Of Gem , Alberta, was born in Neukirch, southern Russia on December 10, 1889, t'O K'Ornelius and Katharina (nee Dalke) ·Hiebert. In 1923 he was united in holy matrim'Ony with Anne Peters. In 1925 he emigrated t'O Canada with his family. He arrived first in Rosthern, Sask., spent severa'i years there and in 1928 came t'O Gem. Here he farmed until his retirement in 1960, c'O ntinuing t'O live 'On the farm site after retirement . God gave Mr. Hiebert many blessings materiall'ly, but much more spiritually, Thr'Ough ,the many sorr'Ows he expe,rienced in the lass of his wife, two sons and one daughter, he found a stronghold and deep comfort in the Master of his life. John 14:1-3 were a comfort to him in his last days, when he was comp'letely bed-ridden. He passed away 'On June 8, 1972 in the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Hiebert was prede'ceased by his wife, Anna , in 1946; Marlin, age 16 years, in 1940; Henry at 'two weeks, ,in 1939; and Elizabeth, at 26 years, in 1961. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Abram (Anne) Peters, Chil'liwack, B.C., Mrs. George (Helen) Enns, Chilliwaok, B.C, Mrs. Melvin (Freda) Raugrest, Craigmyle, Alta., and Mrs. Herman (Kay) Kreksch, Morningside, Alta.; and four sons: Abr'aham and Bernard of Gem, Davi,d of Lethbridge and Cornelius of Millet, Alta.; 17 grandchi'ldren;and two sisters in Russia. Funeral services were held June 12 in the Gem Mennonite Brethren Church, with Rev. J.P. Doerksen ministering .
