JACOB P. KRAUSE

Jacob P. Krause, 01 Da,lmeny, Sask .,

was born in 1893 in La'dek'op, Soutlll Russia, the :fourth o~ nine children. As a youth :he moved wi~h ,the fami'l,y ItO Samara, whe,re he received h'is elementary education and became a member of the Genera!1 'Conference Mennonite Church. In 1914 he was :drafted 'and served -in the medical corps, 'auending wo'unded sQ'ldi'ers on the trains,untill the end of the war. 'I'll 1918 he married Helena Kroeker at Ebenfel:d, Sama'ra . To this unlion were born 13 children, rom 'Of whom predeoeased him in Russia and 'One in Gana,da. In 1929 he emigra'ted tc Canada, settl'ing in the Langham, Soask., district, and ,in 1947 he moved to the .oallmeny area, where he con1linu'ed farming unt,i,1 his retirement in 1958. He enjoyed falirly gc'Od 'health untH December, 1971 when he 'Suffered a heart a1taok and was hospitall'ized for a lengthy per,io,d. He died on May 22 at the 'age clf 78. He accepted Christ as Sa'viour in 1935 and was b'apt,ized by the +at'e Roev. Jac'ob Lepp. He jOlined the Neuhoifnung MiB Ohurch at Langham, and ,I'alter the 8benezer MBChufch ,in 'Oa'imeny. He was gla'd to take time to work ,in the church in whatever capaoity hec'Ou'ld. His love for mus,ic was strong, and he enjoyed singing the songs o,f thefa'ith, as wei'l as study-ing the Script'ures d'illoigenrly ---a practice Ihe c'On'tinued right t'O the end. Left t'O mourn his pas'sling are Ih'i'S wife, Helena, four sons: Jake, 'Of Langham, Henry, of tethbr,idg'e, John and Peter, o,f St. Catharines, Ont.; fom da'ugMers: Helen (Mrs . Oskar Sawa'tsky). Marga'ret (IMrs.George Cole, Melfort). Mary (Mrs. Herman Wiebe, Vancouver). and Agnes (Mrs. Don W,iebe, S'askato'On). as well as 36grandch1ildren.
