MRS. PETER BARTEL
Helena B'artel was born October 24, 1892 'M Steinfeld, in th e Ukraiine. On N-ovemlber 3, 1923 she married the ,late Peter Hartel of Rudnerweid e, a,lso 'Of southern Russia. They left Russia for Canada in 1925 and set,tled f.irs,tin the Dalmeny-Langham area and a few y ea rs later, in 1928, 'at Glenbush, Sasik. They farmed at G'lenbush for 31 years and jO'ined the Glenbusih Mennonite B rethren Chur.ch in September of th eir iiirst year there. In 1958 they retired to Saskatoon. Their declining years indude,d much ii'lness, y et she 'enj-oyed the visits by the 'family and friends. They w ere 'able t'O intimate'ly visit wi;th her, read the B<ible and s'ing ,and pray with 'her. Her husband passed away on June 2, 1967. Elari-ier 'a da ughter ,and three sons and a granddaughter had predeceased her. rOn December 19, 1971 she passed pe'arcefuHy on to be with Jesus . Her last Ifive y'ea'rs were speM in the Mennon'ite Nurs ing Hom e at RQls'thern. She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Henry Bartel of North Battlefor'd; four dau'ghters, Mrs. Jake (Helen) Isaak of Medstead, Sask., Mrs. George CErna) Wiens of Vernon, B.C., Mrs . J-ohn (tKat'ie) Siemens of Medste'a d, Sask., and IElfrieda of Saskatoon; the wife and husbands o·f her children, 12 grandchildren, and many other friends and fell'atives.
