DAVID WIENS

David Wiens was born in Neukirch, Russia, to David and Maria Wiens on July 21, 1905. In 1925 he emigrated to Canada and settled in New Brigden, Alberta.

Two years later he married Anna ,G. Bergen of Sedalia, Alta. They farmed in the Sedalia and Chinook areas for several years.

In 1933 they moved to East Coulee, Alta. where Mr. Wiens worked in the coal mines until 1942. They then moved to Gem, Alta., where he was in the trucking and farming business until 1969. Illness necessitated repeated periods of hospitalization. They finally moved to Three Hills where medical facilities were close at hand.

When he was a young boy he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour during evangelistic meetings in Russia. In a recent testimony written for the church in Three Hills, he testified that the life of a backslider is not a pleasant one. Suffering and difficulties were instrumental in drawing him back into a vital relationship with God. He appreciated very much the warm welcome and fellowship of believers enjoyed in the Bethel Evangelical Church of Three Hills during the past two years.

On July 19, 1971 he slipped away quietly to be with the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, three sons, five daughters, eighteen grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
