CORNELIUS DAVID WARKENTIN

Cornelius Warkentin, R.R.4, St. Catharines, Ont., passed away on February 22 at the age of 64, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held in the Virgil MB Church . He was born in Carpenter, South Dakota, in 1907 and at 11 years moved with his family to Saskatchewan. Six years later he committed his life to Christ and was baptised into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church. On June 28, 1931 he was united in marriage to Annie Wiebe, and the Lord blessed them with five children. They moved to Virgil in 1938. He served the Virgil church as choir director, song leader and adult Bible class teacher. In 1969 he was severely handicapped by a heart attack and a stroke but after four and a half months in the hospital he was able to spend the last months of his life at home. Although badly handicapped by loss of speech and paralysis, he enjoyed the warmth of home and his family and radiated his love for the Lord.

The family would like to express sincere thanks for the prayers, love and concern shown during his illness by the many relatives and friends in Canada and the U,S.A.
