DAVID A. LOEWEN

David A. Loewen was born to A!braham and Susanna Loewen on March 4, 1,895 in Pod'o'lsk, Neu Samara in Rus'Sia. He experienced the new birth and was baptized in 1917. On May 28, 1918 he was united ,in marriage to Lena, daug'hter of Henry and Susanna, Nickel. Three daughters and one son were born to them infancy. In 1924 the family immigrated t·o Canada and sett·led in the Bee·chyDem aim~ area in Saskatchewan. Here nine more children were born to them of which one son died in infancy. In 1946 the family moved to Ontario and fellowshipped with the Virgil MB Church. In 1968 Mr. and Mrs. Loewen celebrated th e·iI' golden wedding. One year later Mrs. Loewen went to be with her Saviour. In the spr'ing of 1970 it was found that Mr. Loewen had ·cancer. The Lord took him home on September 30 at the age o,f 75. Funeral se~vices were held on October 3 in the Virg,i'l Church. Rev. George W'ichert, for many years a neighbour of the Loewen family, pointed out that Mr. Loewen's life an·d homegoing was to become for us a chanengeand an encouragement. Rev. J .G. Baer,g related that when Mr. Loewen had been questi·oned conceming his homegoing 'his answer had been: "It's just taking too long." He ·is surv,ived by <three sons : Henry, Sault Ste. Marie; Frank, St. Catharines; Jacob, London, ant.; seven daughters: Mrs. John (Susan) Heinrichs; Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Martens; Mrs. Peter (Erna ) Hei nrichs, aoN ,in Saskatchewan; He·lena, SIM missionary to Nigeria, presently home on furloUQh; Mrs. Kurt (Ann) W agner, London, Ont.; Mrs. WaIter (Tina) Toman, K·itchener; and Mrs . Edmund (Mary) Janzen, Fresno, Ca'li'f.; one brother, Henry, W'innipeg; one sister, Mrs. Peter Isaac, in Br.itish Columbia; and 35 grandch.Hdren
