JACOB CORNELIUS KRAUSE

Jaceb Cernel'ius Krause passed away in the Chilliwack General Hespital en July 5. He was bern en March 19, 1894 near Scheenfeld, Russia, the third 'Of s'even children. He received his high scheel educatien in Gnadenfeld, Russia, and studied acceunting in Simverropel. At the age 'Of ten, he was cenvi,cted 'Of spiritual need threugh the parable 'Of the unjust steward, cemmitted his life te the Lerd, and several years later was baptized. After werking several years as a beekkeeper, he served with the Red Cross fer three years during Werld War I. On Nevember 5, 1918 he was married te Maria Rempel. The Lerdheloed the family ,in many hardsh'ips during the revelutienary years. In 1921 the Cemmunists imprisened him fer 49 days but the Lerd miraculeusly saved his life. In 1924, the Krauses left Russia a-nd began an entirely new way 'Of life -in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. Ged previded fer them threugh the help 'Of many wenderful peep'le. In 1928, they meved te Yarrew, B.C. and with eleven ether families started the first Mennenite settlement in Brit,ish Celumbia. The first ten years were difficult years, but Ged previded fer every need. In 1937 they were received inte the membership 'Of the Yarrew Mennenite Brethren Church. Ged granted the Krauses the jey 'Of sharing 52 years 'Of life tegether. He has never fai·led them. On July 5, Mr. Krause entered inte eternal rest where serrew, pain and death are ne mere. He reached the age 'Of 76. He leaves te meurn his wife, Maria five daugohters, Mrs. F. (Melita) Peters, Kitchener, Ont., Mrs. A. (Mary) Hamm, Chill-iwack, B.C., Mrs. C. (Naemi) Giesbrecht, Yarrow, B.C., Mrs. W. (Betty) Veth, Prince Geerge, B.C., Mrs. D.
