JOHN POETTCKER

John A. Poettcker of Acme, Alberta went to be with the Lord on June 10 in the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary. He was born to Abraham and Maria (nee Dyck) Poettokerin Schoenau South Russia. on September 11, 1921. The family came t~ Canada in 1924. After a year in Ontario, they moved to South Dakota for two and one-half years. They returned to Canada in 1928 and settled in the Pincher Creek, Alberta district.

He received the Lord as his Saviour in his teens. He was baptized on his faith and joined the Mennonite Brethren church in 1945. He was married to Katie Friesen of Rosemary, Alberta, on October 20, 1945. The union was blessed by three sons and one chosen daughter.

He farmed first in Pincher Creek until 1957, then in Vauxhall, Alberta until 1961. His last years were spent farming, in the Acme district.

His Bible school training in Coaldale and Didsbury inspired and helped him in his service for the Lord. He loved and was active in Sunday school and youth work.

He is predeceased by his parents and one brother and sister in their infancy. He is survived by his loving wife, Katie; three sons: Marvin, Clarence, and Eric; one daughter, Ruby of Acme; two brothers, Henry of Coaldale and Abe of Tofield; three sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Dyok of Oliver, B.C., Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Thiessen of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Miss Annie Peettcker of Coaldale; their families; and many ether relatives and friends. The family accepts the precious premise of the Lord: "The Lord shall give that which is geed." Psalm 85:12. They trust him with all their heart.
