FAMOUS ATOMIC SCIENTIST VICTIM OF CANCER
Enrico Fermi, famous Italian-born atomic scientist, died of cancer in Chicago Nov. 28.
The 53-year-old Fermi had built the first atomic pile at the University of Chicago in Dec. 1942 and had suggested the possibility of an atomic bomb to U.S. government officials as early as 1939.
Fermi became ill in September. He had cancer of the throat and stomach.
