Adam Cornelius Strueby—Obituary

Adam Cornelius Strueby was born in Adam county, Indiana, November 5, 1866. He departed this life at his home 408 East Eighth street, Newton, Kansas, Monday, May 20 at the age of 79 years 6 months and fifteen days. He had lived in Newton for more than fifty years and for many years was an employee of the Santa Fe railroad company. He was a quiet efficient citizen, patriotic and loyal to his duties and to his friends. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Royal Neighbors.

He was married November 21, 1899 to Julia M. Carr who survives. To this union were born four sons, one son passed away in infancy, and Elton of Venice, California, S. Carr of Newton and Roy H., of San Francisco, California. One sister Mrs. Annie Moore of Lyons, Kansas, and one grandson, Duane Strueby of Newton, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Moody's Funeral chapel, Wednesday afternoon May 22, 1946 at 2:30, with the Rev. George W. Nelson in charge. Mrs. Wayne O'Neil sang "The Lords Prayer," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. E. C. McBurney. Casket bearers were Harvey C. Dickhut, Louis P. Roll, K. B. Eudaly, Dillard Lantz, J. A. Moore and John Myers. Interment was made in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery by Rex M. Moody of the Moody Funeral Home.

Newton Lodge No. 142 A. F. & A. M. was in charge of the graveside services.
