(MRS. HELEN MARTENS

(Mrs.) Helen Martens of Mt. Lehman, B.C., passed away at her home on August 1.

Helen Martens was born in Russia in 1924. She accepted the Lord as her Savior while a fugitive during World War II. While in Germany, she joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. She came to Canada without her family in 1949. While working as a nurse at Bethesda Home, she met Henry Martens, a co-worker. They were married on May 17, 1952 in the Vineland (Ontario) Church. They moved to British Columbia where she joined the East Aldergrove Church.

Funeral services were observed on August 5 in the East Aldergrove Church with Rev. C.D. Toews officiating. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Henry; one daughter, Viola; two sons, Edward and Harold; her mother, Mrs. Teske, two sisters and one brother who reside in Ontario.
