ELIZABETH WICHERT

(Mrs.) Elizabeth Wichert of Virgil, Ontario, passed away on August 7 at the age of 71.

She was born in Mariawohl in Molotschna, Russia, on May 11, 1898, to Gerhard and Aganetha Funk. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour in her youth and was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1917. On August 17, 1917, she was married to Henry J. Wichert. The couple emigrated to Ontario in 1916, first living in the Kitchener and then the Vineland area. Later, in 1935, they moved to a farm near Virgil. The marriage was blessed with eight children. One daughter died at two years of age, and Mrs. Wichert was predeceased by her husband in 1963.

Funeral services were held on August 11 in the Virgil Church, with Rev. John Wichert of Vineland and Rev. J. G. Baerg of Virgil officiating. Left to mourn her passing are 5 sons, Henry, John, George, Walter, and Jacob and their wives; two daughters, Louise at home and Marion with her husband Victor Loewen; 22 grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.
