— A series of traffic accidents in this area during the past week resulted in one death, injuries to a number of mortorists [sic] and considerable damage to the cars and trucks involved. Oliver Holdeman of Hesston is confined to the Axtell Christian hospital here with a fractured hip and severe bruises suffered Thursday afternoon when his car crashed into the rear of a sand truck north of Newton on Highway K-15. The accident occurred when the truck, driven by George Ropp of Newton, turned off the highway. Mr. Holdeman's car was nearly demolished. Fletcher P. Moore, former Newton fire chief, was fatally injured Saturday morning when he drove his car into the path of a large semi-trailer on West Broadway. Sunday noon a semitrailer loaded with corn failed to make the curve at the intersection of Highway 81 and North Main street and skidded into an oncoming car. Four passengers in the car were injured. The truck overturned and scattered the corn along the street.
