JAKOB J. KLASSEN

"And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee." Jakob Klassen passed away on January 24, at the Abbotsford hospital, as the result of an accident when the car in which he was riding was in collision with another auto. The sudden passing spared him extended illness as he was suffering of cancer. Born in Friedensruh, Russia, October 15, 1887, he married Katharina Hooge April 29, 1910, received assurance of salvation in 1914 and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren church in 1918. Migrated to Canada in 1926 and lived in Dalmeny and Watrous, Saskatchewan for 15 years. The golden wedding anniversary was celebrated in 1960 in Chilliwack, B.C. and in 1961 they moved to Chilliwack. He took a great interest in the church and looked forward to his heavenly home.

He was predeceased by one infant son in 1920 and one daughter, Tina (20), in 1936. Left to mourn are his wife Katharina, and six children: Mary (Mrs. Abe Cornies), Jacob, Eva (Mrs. Jacob Voth), all of Clearbrook, Annie (Mrs. Rudy Boschman) of Linden Alta., Margaret (Mrs. John Janzen) of Clearbrook, Abie of Burnaby, B.C.; 24 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Tina (Mrs. D. Martens) of Paraguay, and a host of relatives and friends.
