JACOB JANZEN

Jacob Janzen was born February 21, 1902 in Franztal, South Russia. He passed away on June 27 after several months of illness at the age of 63. In 1923 he accepted Jesus Christ as personal Saviour finding peace and forgiveness in him. A year later he was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren church at Alexanderthal, South Russia. Soon thereafter he left Russia for Canada.

He was married in 1926 to Helen Ploenert and after having lived in Manitoba for six years the family moved to Yarrow, B.C., where they lived since. He joined the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church receiving there much spiritual nurture and establishing many close relationships.

After 38 years of marriage he leaves to mourn his wife, Helen; two sons and two daughters-in-law; eight daughters and six sons-in-law. His last prayer was, "Lord, strengthen me and help me to the end." God heard and answered his plea.

Funeral services were held June 30 in the Yarrow Church with Rev. Henry Brucks and Rev. P. D. Loewen officiating. Interment was in the Yarrow cemetery.
