text of obituary:

MRS. JOHN BAERGEN

Mrs. John Baergen, nee Maria Dueck, was born in South Russia near the ctiy [sic] of Beryansk May 7, 1871, and departed this life to be with the Lord Dec. 18, 1951, at 2 p.m. at the age of 79 years, seven months, and 11 days.

In 1873 her parents moved to the town of Elbing Prussia, then a part of Germany. Here she was baptized in 1887 by Elder Regier and became a member of the Mennonite church. In the year 1891 she emigrated with her parents to America and they settled near Buhler, Kansas.

In 1900 she was joined in marriage to John Baergen with whom she has shared the joys and sorrows of married life for more than 50 years. In April of 1950 they were privileged to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Those who knew Mrs. Baergen were impressed by her patience and the utter absence of any complaining spirit, even during the last weeks of her illness. She now dwells in the presence of the Saviour where she is comforted and where there is fulness [sic] of joy.

She leaves to mourn her departure the following: One daughter, Mrs. Catherine Androes of Newport, Wash.; six sons, Cornelius of Spokane, John of Electric City, Abe, Ben, Paul and Dave, of Newport; three sisters, Mrs. J. Vogt of California, Mrs. Henry Friesen of Kansas, and Mrs. Boese of Colorado; seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
