text of obituary:
PETER J. KROEKER
Peter J. Kroeker was born in Spat, South Russia, on July 27, 1900. His parents were Johann Kroekers. There he spent the first 25 years of his life. In 1924. on Aug. 3, he was married to Anna Janzen. The Lord blessed their marriage with 3 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom survive him. He emigrated to Canada in 1925, and settled in Manitoba, where he farmed in the Culross-Elm Creek district until his death.
He accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour in 1929; in the same year he was baptized and became a member of the Elm Creek M.B. Church, whose faithful member he remained until his death. It was his daily prayer that he might live a life which was acceptable before eternal God. He was also deeply concerned that all his children would accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and live an honorable life.
He enjoyed farming and was active as a farmer all his life. About the year 1950, he began to feel the slowing effects of rheumatism and arthritis, which grew steadily worse for several years. During the last 8 years, his condition sometimes improved, yet he always remained under doctors' care. However, he never ceased to go on with his occupation, and seldom spoke of his suffering.
In February 1964, he was hospitalized for a short time for observation. Since then his condition seemed to deteriorate.
On Saturday, July 18, 1964 he suddenly had a severe attack of illness. He was rushed to Winnipeg but died almost immediately upon arrival at the hospital. Death came as a result of a heart attack.
He is survived by his widow; 3 sons and their wives; 3 daughters and their husbands; 28 grandchildren; one sister living in Russia; and very many relatives and friends.
The family sorrows; but has the assurance of seeing him again in eternity.
Mrs. Kroeker and the family express deep appreciation and gratefulness for all the prayers on their behalf, for every warm handshake, for the flowers and many sympathy cards, for words of encouragement and comfort which they received in their bereavement.
