Franz Kasitz

Franz Kasitz, 71-year-old retired farmer, passed away at 3:25 Tuesday afternoon at the home of his only daughter, Mrs. F. J. (Helen) Kater, near McLains following an illness of more than six years, which became acute about a week ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Kasitz and their fine family of eight children came to this country from Germany in 1903 and settled near Elbing in Butler county. He was born in Baumgott, Marieburg [sic], Germany on April 14, 1862, making him 71 years, three months and 11 days at the time of death. He was married on May 29, 1888 in Erkrath, Rhine Province, Germany, to Henrietta Haag and to this union were born one daughter and seven sons. They are Mrs. F. J. Kater, Will F. Kasitz and Robert of Newton, Jake, Walter and Arthur of San Diego, Calif., and Frank and August of Avon, S. D. These with the wife survive. There are also 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one brother, Gottlieb Kasitz of Benrath, Rhine Province, Germany, and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Mull of Poolville, Texas among the surviving relatives.
