. . .

— The Newton community was shocked last week-end with the news that Clarence F. Steinkirchner, 56, owner of the Citizen's Finance and Loan Company, had been brutally murdered in the office of the company at 105 West Fifth street. The tragedy occurred Saturday evening, the body being discovered at about 8:00 p. m. by Mrs. Steinkirchner after her husband failed to return home for the evening meal and repeated calls to the office brought no response. He had been shot through the chest and suffered head injuries. There was definite evidence that the motive was robbery, although the amount taken has not been determined.
